Le Stage is a Professional Development training course delivered in France for Australian French teachers. Le Stage:

Is designed to specifically meet certain requirements outlined in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Is suitable for Primary and Secondary French teachers.
Is Teacher Identified Professional Development, including collegial discussions on current practice, and classroom observations.
Is the only course designed for Australian Teachers in France.

Institut de Touraine in Tours, France


Institut de Touraine has been providing French language courses and teacher training courses since 1912. IDT is FLE (Français Langue Étrangere) accredited. IDT is under the academic supervision of Université François-Rabelais of Tours.


Week 1: Cours – Compétences orales, compétence phonétiques. Ateliers pratique Oral, Modules linguistique/Phonétique, Conférences, Module Atelier histoire du vin et fromage avec œnologue. Travail optionnel sur projets en autonomie guidée à la médiathèque. Journée collégiale d’observation et interaction dans une école primaire/secondaire. Excursion guidée au Château de Chenonceau et visite de caves.
Week 2 : Cours : Compétences écrites, compétences orales, module linguistique et phonétique. Conférence. Compétences culturelles et interculturelles. Travail optionnel sur projets en autonomie guidée à la médiathèque. Bilan de Stage et remise des attestations.

Teacher Identified Professional Development

Teacher Identified Professional Development covers formal and informal training, courses, workshops, seminars and activities which you might attend either in or outside of school locally and/or overseas.  Consult your Tax agent or Accountant for information regarding tax deductions and check


  • Stage: 50 hours of didactique, 10 hours of perfectionnement, 5 hours on individual project, 1 day in a local P-12 school, Wine & Cheese French workshop, guided tour of Chateau de Chenonceau, guided visit in French of local cellar, Certificate of Attendance.
  • Homestay:  Walking distance to the Institut: 5 – 30 minutes. Accommodation at a local homestay host in a single room with shared bathroom.
  • Meals:
    • Half board (breakfast & dinner) Monday to Friday
    • Full board (all meals) on week-ends (unless on excursion)
  • Laundry once a week, towels and bed linen provided, free Wi-Fi.
